Most anyone who's been an associate at a law firm

You may well recognize at least some part of yourself in this post from Civil Procedure about the ritual of the performance review at the Large Law Firm.  Of course, it doesn’t always go the way she describes, but so many elements of her reaction to the meeting sounded familiar to me — either as sentiments I held at that same post-review moment or that my colleagues told, and continue to tell, me about.  (I very much liked the firm I worked for, and admired the people who were there, and, by way of post-script, they’ve continued to be eminently good and supportive to me even after I left.  Hmm.  Maybe they weren’t sorry to see me go?)
