History's Closest Presidential Race?

According to an e-mail announcement today by longtime political
pundit and adviser, Michael Goldman: “Today’s CNN/USA TODAY/GALLUP poll
confirms that this is, literally, the closest race in modern history.
In Gallup polls since 1936, only once has the race had a one point
margin at this point (Nixon/Kennedy in 1960).”  He’s presumably
working off of the “registered voters” numbers, not the “likely voters”
numbers.

Another good way to feed obsession is the Electoral Vote predictor (thanks to Lance Knobel — actually, his sister — for the pointer).

Halley‘s interviewing of Berkman fellow David Weinberger results in this, with lots of politics thrown in.

And don’t miss Chris Lydon’s perspectives on the American Empire, as seen from New York City last week.
