New book coming out: The Connected Parent

With my friend and collaborator Urs Gasser, I have a new book coming out this fall — The Connected Parent: An Expert Guide to Parenting in a Digital World. It’s a close cousin of our previous book, Born Digital: How Children Grow Up in a Digital Age.  In this new book, we apply the findings from our 15 years or so of studying young people and how they use technology to a book that offers advice to parents raising kids these days.

It’s always fun to anticipate the arrival of a new book!  It comes out in October, 2020.  In the meantime, join our Facebook community.

  1. Dear Mr. Palfrey,

Hope you, your family and all your loved ones all over the world are staying healthy and safe!!! How is Chicago? How is the new life? We miss you very much at PA!!

The global pandemic has truly changed literally everyone’s plans for this year 2020, especially for students from all ages—in Singapore, even four-year-olds are doing online kindergarten classes. Singapore is still under circuit breaker which is the equivalent to a lockdown… For us parents whose children are attending boarding schools or college, however, there is a silver lining of having the children back with us since March ( Kenichi is back; Maho is back from January as Tokyo University started Spring Break from end of January! ) through summer!!! We get to spend every day together and this has truly been a huge blessing for me⭐️🌟 I trust you must be so happy to have your children back in your house, too😊 Kenichi, however, does not share this feeling as much as I do haha.. he misses Andover, the people, his classes, the dorm so much which I am again glad and relief to know( it will be worrisome if he did not)! We truly hope school will open in September as scheduled!

I was so happy to see your email, announcing your new book release in October!! Congratulations!!! I cannot wait to read it!! It is, as always, such a timely topic, too! Thank you so much for letting me know!!

Wishing you and your family a very happy, healthy, safe and exciting Summer😊

    Best wishes, Kaoru

  3. Hello, I am also a father and I have a 1 year old son. I do research on the concept of family, intra-family social relationship, father-son relationship and mother-son relationship. I work to be a good father. I would like to learn about how the social relationship between parents is reflected in many. I am very curious about this book.
